Maheka Mirpuri presented her latest collection "Khwaahish". A collection inspired by Maheka's wish to be a princess ever since she was a little girl. A lot of dresses with empire waists. Lehengas and saris with lots of embroideries. But the showstopper definitely was Sushmita who looked exquisite in a lehenga with a corset top.

Assam And Pondicherry At Etro
This month's Elle Decor had a multi-page spread on Mumbai and just as I was thinking 'yay' and what could be next, I spy Etro's home collection, one with many different looks but of which, one collection was named Assam and the other Pondicherry!
Buy The Pondicherry Collection Via Etro
Needless to say, the style is very, very Indian inspired. The colors are vibrant, bright, happy and sometimes over the top! The prints are what can pass for shabby chic, country chic, old-world chic or even just plain urban chic! The price range is of course a little bit on the higher side, but its Etro, what did you expect?

Bipasha at Cartier Jewelry Launch
Wow! Bipasha Basu looked absolutely gorgeous at the Cartier launch of its new 34 piece collection called Inde Mystérieuse.
I love how she included a traditional stole into the whole western outfit! It is nice to see someone represent some Indian influences especially at an international event.
The collection is inspired by India and is still under wraps, but we will make sure that the moment it is out, you get to see it!
For the time being though, feast your eyes on the collection on display.

Cover This!
Vogue India is going to be debuting with a smokin' hot cover with Bipasha Basu in Roberto Cavalli, Gemma Ward in Valentino, Priyanka Chopra in Giorgio Armani, Laxmi Menon in Chanel, Preity Zinta in Christian Dior, and Monikangana Dutta in Gucci!
Source
I think Basu and Dutta totally steal the show, umm, cover! But this cover totally reminds me of the inaugaral cover of Vogue China which also had the seemingly mandatory Gemma Ward.

What do you all think?

Gucci At Cue
At the CUE Fall/Winter 2007 collection showcase, I spotted a lady sporting the Gucci 'indy' top handle bag! Though I don't care for the whole tassels look myself, its been very popular with the younger Hollywood set. And this lady gets full points for carrying the nicest version of the bag in the chocolate guccisima leather!

Spotted: Gul, Urmila
Spotted the usually poorly styled Gul Panag at Anita Dongre's Organic Odyssey, looking quite pretty and well put together! She was wearing a really simple yet very pretty dress from Anita Dongre's collection and was looking good! But this repeat fashion offender is not totally off the hook yet. She was also carrying a Louis Vuitton bag and if you have been reading this blog, you know that we have a problem with 'obnoxious-logo-slapping-all-over-the-product' type of bags!

And then there is Urmila, debuting on the Fashion Offender List, for reasons you only have to glance below to know...
Source
Shiney logo on a tee. Eecky fitting trousers. Random belt. Ugly shoes. Colors that didn't work. Noone needs more to be a fashion disaster. No sirrie.

When The Labels Come Calling
The label sporting brigade was out in full force at the Lipton tea promotional event at spa and I couldn't help but flag down a couple of labels!
The picture below is of Nandita Mahtani carrying a Balenciaga bag which had caught on really big and fast with A listers and fashionistas alike, but that was a while ago and is so last season and an absolute 'has-been' now!
Source
Buy via BagBorroworSteal
I also spotted her wearing Gucci 'royal' flat pumps! Canvas and dotted with the logo, all over! Its always the same fashion offense, logo overkill!
Source
Buy via Gucci
And then there is Madhoo carrying an Hermes Birkin Bag. The absolute lustworthy bag that costs upwards of thousands of dollars and where one has to be on a waitlist for months and months! And Madhoo has that bag, unbelievable! And how can one carry a Birkin and be dressed like that? Am speechless.
Source
Madhoo has a Birkin. Seriously. I can't get over it.

Thewa Jewelry
I have been waiting to write this post for a while now. I was really excited when I found this cool and unique jewelry style and couldn't wait to share it with the rest of y'all!
I found this, as part of my research for Kundan jewelry. I never knew this kind of style existed. I am familiar with "filigree" work, but that is mostly done in silver. I had never seen similar kind of work done with gold.
I found from my research that it is a 400 year old art and the jewelry is created by fusing 23K gold with colored handmade glass. The common glass colors are mostly red, green and blue because they mimic the tones of rubies, emeralds and sapphires. The designs can vary depicting animals like peacocks or elephants or can also depict day-to-day life, legends and even hunting scenes.
What's even better is that there are so many choices out there to select from and one should definately own one piece of Thewa jewelry.
Now, the prices for these pieces can vary based on the gold being used. You can have gold plated casings on the glass vs actual 23K gold casings.
I like this set because you can wear the pendant with a simple gold chain and it would work with any kind of outfit.
Buy via ApnaBazaar
This is such a classic piece. It has that "khaandaani" look to it with the three strand "maharani" style design.

Thewa and Kundan together! Fabulous! The price is quite steep for this piece( $1487.50) but the design is exquisite.
Buy via Jusra
I love this set for its modern feel. The understated design in the earrings do make it look very traditional and at $937, it is a little more reasonable than the Kundan set.

Enjoy the selections!

Ban The Man Hairband
Source
Thats Amitabh Bachan and Abhishek Bachan at the 53rd National Film Awards with Amitabh looking all dapper and Abhishek, and how do we say this delicately but... with that over gelled and oily hair slicked back with that hairband...
Ok here's the deal, I don't know who said or decided that man hairbands were all cool and metrosexual and what have you, but they are not. Especially not when worn that way. No. No. No.
Om Shanti Om Music Launch
Well there is a big war going on and I don't want to be in the middle of it. You know! The whole Deepika vs Sonam war! Who will be better? Which movie will do better at the BO? So it wouldn't be fair of me to cover the Saawariya music launch and ignore Om Shanti Om. No effing way!
Anyhoo, just because I said I will cover the event, doesn't mean I have to be nice! I am totally disappointed at Deepika's outfit. I love the neckline of the blouse but overall the outfit is just too "blah". I wish there was more detail to this bland sari. And that rhinestone belt...oh so tacky!
Another fashion offender was Ms. Shreya Ghoshal with this uggggly dress and even uglier white tights! It seems like you either have a sense of style or you don't and Shreya seems like she just doesn't!
Thank god for Kirron Kher! She stuck to traditional (which she always does) and didn't go wrong! Her jewelry was minimal and that bag was simply too cuute!

Spotted: Gayatri Joshi
Wow! Couldn't even recognize Gayatri Joshi at the Bentley presentation held on 17th September. She looks so frazzled! Seemed liked she just rolled out of bed and put on her clothes. Oh well, I am pretty impressed with the Gucci crystal clutch. The lady has good taste in her bags!
Buy via Saks Fifth Avenue for $795
P.S If you forgot who Gayatri Joshi is, here is a reminder. She starred with Shah Rukh Khan in Swades.

See That Snake?
Here's what has been creeping up the must have accessory list with stealth and style and you spell it as s n a k e! Portia De Rossi wore one around her neck at the Emmys that looked like it was spewing out the fabric of her dress and I thought that was such a fabulous touch! Since we can't have a couture gown to make that look work, here's the next best option.. accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.

I love this necklace; throw around a low necked or bare shouldered dress and you are ready to smolder! Even better, move past the black dress, and brave a midnight blue or a regal purple and see envy take root wherever you point your finger to!
Buy Via Ross-Simons
Cocktail rings and statement rings are all the rage but here's a look you won't see every Jane sporting! Have that snake curl around a finger and make a statement that is bold yet laced with personal style!
Buy Via Ebay
And how fabulos are these black faux onyx snake earrings? Every time you twirl your hair or do a diva toss, you get to tease just a bit with these wavy, beautiful, gliterring earrings...
Buy Via Pugster
And finally, this gorgeous bracelet/bangle! Instead of the usual red stone for the eye, it has a green one, far less creepy that way and far more 'style-appeal'!! Sure fire way to jazz up any look, any day, for some quick top of the charts style quotient!
Buy Via Urban Outfitters
With accessories like these, instant style revival is but guaranteed. And they say snakes can't be trusted!! Sheesh!
