Om Shanti Om...

Well the first promo is out...What do you think of Deepika Padukone's look? This girl is a gorgeous looking girl. Somehow,me thinks that the "old school" look and hairstyle isn't really suiting her...

The story is about Shah Rukh dying and then being reborn but Deepika's character is still alive and much older than him? Is that even possible!?! How do you get Deepika to look older than SRK? Hopefully it won't be with bad wigs and awful makeup. Guess we will have to wait and watch.

The plot line reminds me of the Hollywood movie "Chances Are" where Cybill Shepard realizes that her daughters' bf might be a reincarnation of her husband...

Indian Fashion and Celebrities

Check out Gwen Stefani rocking the "bandhini" skirt. Oooooh... I wish I had a six pack as hers..I don't even have a baby, but I still have a damn tummy! These skirts were all the "craze" couple of years back.. Nice to see Mrs Rossdale still wearing hers!

Bad Hair Days...

They do exist and you should feel very happy in knowing that even the best of us have them on a very regular basis. Take me for example, my hair gets oily by the end of the day. I will wake up the next day and no matter what I try, my hair doesnt want to listen to me! Now there are lots of hair products out there that will get me the look I want. But, the truth of the matter is, that I am very possesive of my hair and stay away from any artificial product that "claims" that it can get my hair to go from flat to full in 2 seconds! The only other fix, is to wash my hair every day, but that adds a full 15 minutes to my getting ready for work. Anyone who knows me also knows that I am not a morning person (my morning starts only around noon). I rather use those 15 minutes to get some more ZZZZZZs..(preferably dreaming of some greek hunk whisking me away to some paradise island!)

Now, for all you ladies that agree with how blissful those extra 15 mins of ZZZZZZs are, you are going to like my quickfix for a bad hair day..

Recently, I picked up this wide band hairband and boy, life has been so much easier ever since. The wide band covers quite a bit of my hair and the shiny look distracts from the actual oily hair underneath, instantly giving a cool look, than a frazzled one! I found it at Forever21 for only $1.80.

Buy via Forever21

Another alternative is this flexible tortoise-look headband for people who prefer browns. I really like its cutout details and it retails for $9.

Buy via Spiegel

Now I found these online too, but tell me... would you ever wear this "Turban" head wrap??

Buy via Intuition

or buy these LV hairclips for $230??

Ms. Well Heeled.. I think I just tagged you on FaceBook as "the most likely to wear those clips above"!! HAH!

The Way Vikram Phadnis Does It...

Vikram Phadnis has long been a favorite among the Bombay film industry people and at his fashion shows you can always be guaranteed to spot some celebs in front rows! And at this recent fashion show of his, he seemed to have gone one step further, and roped in a family deal by getting Malaika and Katrina to model for him! I generally don't mind his clothes but this show didn't do anything for me!

Source

Phadnis' creations were shown at a show that Zapak.com organized at the JW Marriott hotel, Mumbai and while I get the whole game-y feel, I just don't care for it! Instead of doing Lara Croft sexy, it was just technicolor Marvel comics, the Chetpet edition! (For the uninitiated, thats a place in Chennai)

Source

And then there's the issue of Katrina. Tell me how one person can be so boring? She is gooood looking and all that. Thats a given. But no matter how you style her, how come she always comes off looking the same? Boooring!

Source

And Malaika. Now, this is one woman that is super hot, methinks. A great bod, angular face that photographs well and makes even this tacky outfit scream high fashion!

Source

For more pictures from the show, go HERE.

What the *!#@!!

Ok, so a long time ago, someone was eating a donut and wondered, hey, why don't we sell the donut hole too! Not a bad idea.

Source

Bbbut, what is going on here? Ideas like the donut hole cannot be extended to every product! This "half glove" is a classic example! It doesn't even matter, if Ms. Hilton flaunts them. This trend is not about to take off...Ever!

By the way Paris, Billy Idol called and wants the rest of his gloves back!

A Bit Of Whimsy

When it comes to jewellery, every once in a while I look for some rather whimsical pieces that are just fanciful, kitschy, unpredictable and oh well, whimsical! And at one such quest, I found this necklace at J Crew. Its in a classic blue-green combination and what makes it so wonderful, is the frog clasp made out of pave' crystals on a double strand teal colored glass necklace. And if you look close enough, you'll notice that the beads are knotted on a rasberry colored thread which just adds to the contrast! At $125, this bit of whimsy is yours to have!

And look at this...

Buy Via Shopbop

The Turtle Ring by Kenneth Jay Lane from Shopbop is whimsical and cute and oh-so-adorable! The ring is in 18K gold and has Swaroski crystals, and its size can be adjusted! And at $88, you are getting a cocktail ring that makes a statement, and how!

And this last one...

Buy Via Shopbop

Ok, so your first instinct might be, isn't that a bit much? I'll allow you that.. But, yes there is a but! Look again. It is so whimsical, girly and way too much fun! The Large Bow bangle from Fallon Jewellery also available at Shopbop screams witty whimsy with vintage vibe. At $219, it certainly is a bit pricey, but thats one statement piece which certainly will reap rewards!

Its a cynical world baby, and we all need a bit of whimsy now and then!

Fashion Ads: The Bad: Dior

Source

Source

What do you all think of the Dior Fall/Winter 07 campaign with Jessica Stam? I love the absolute overdose of vibrant color but hate the way Jessica has been styled. I itch to yank off that wig (if it is one)! Just the styling of the hair spoils it totally for me...

Excuse me.. What's the time?

A lot of us do not pay attention to the kind of watches we wear. Picking a good watch is just about as important as buying a quality diamond. You cannot, and I cannot stress this enough, you cannot be going to work wearing too casual of a watch. And at the other end of the spectrum, wearing a flashy watch to work is an absolute NO NO!

Now, there's Tiffanys for engagement rings, Harry Winston for diamonds, Rolls for wheels and then there are Rolexes for telling the hours! But if awareness bought 'stuff', I'd have a different Rolex for everyday! But since it doesn't and I don't..the pieces I chose make just as great first buys!

This Baume & Mercier is a great piece. The simple leather straps make it a very simple and elegant watch and it is a steal at under $1000.

Buy via Overstock

The Omega "Constellation" is a great first watch, if you have the money to spend(about $1000+). I like the simple stainless steel look, specially for someone who wears a lot of subtle jewelry. Pair this with diamond solitaire earrings and it totally transforms your look.

Buy via Amazon

Now to my favorite, the Cartier Tank Francaise is just totally out of the world in style and regretably, in price too! It retails for $3300 but can vary. Jennifer Aniston wore one with leather straps in the movie "The Break-up". I somehow prefer the stainless steel look because it lasts longer.

Buy via Saks Fifth Avenue

I have noticed lately, time hasn't been good to me. Its either never enough time or not ever good enough of a time! But there's no reason why I can't look great while telling the time! So, when someone asks you the time next, are you going to be proudly flashing your wrist?

Oh Kareena, Say It Isn't So!

Oh Kareena, all that money to spend and all those resources at hand, and not one stylist that can do their job? It must take special prowess to really look that bad. I met a poodle and she wants her collar back. The drag queen was asking for her make-up bag back and that dress! That dress! Where do I even start? Its chic on crack!

Source

Here's how you do 'Style' wrong. You have deep red/brown highlights in your hair and yet you choose to wear an electric blue dress that not only clashes but also does nothing for you. And then you sip on, what I think might be your thirtieth vodka for the night, because there really is no other explaination, and come up with blue-green eye shadow. Dollops of it. And then you think, oh wait, but I need color, so you paint your nails scarlet red! And while you are looking at yourself in the mirror, twirling this way and that, you think a girl can't step out without some bling of course! Who has time to scrimage for jewellery, there's Fifi around, lets yank off her dog collar and put it to better use!! Oh, and get somebody to spell Globus, just in case people get dazzled and forget why you are admist them in the first place!

Source

Just look at the shape of that dress. It is so unflattering. What was she thinking? Did Manish Malhotra go awol on her? Worse, did Manish Malhotra style her? Oh, and I almost forgot. In case you missed it, all this was while endorsing 'Globus'. Bleh.

Knock Knock..

No no.. This is not going to be a "knock knock" joke. This post is about the first accessory that we lay eyes on (when we visit others) but never quite notice. Thats because we are limited in our selections by what is available by the neighbourhood Home Depot or Lowes.

Who knew that there were some cool alternatives out in the world to spice up your door? Well, now you do!

Look at this Bam Bam door knocker by Umbra. It has a matte look that is very simple but at the same time very stylish. Retailing for only $33, it is quite a deal to spruce up the front door in an instant.

Buy via Umbra

The Sausalito Door Knocker by Chiasso is a little more on the pricey side at $98, but the design is very unique.

Buy via Chiasso

If you prefer something more royal and old school, I would definately suggest this Lion Head knocker. It kind of reminds of the classic Versace design, and this piece would great on a dark wood door.

Fashion Ads: The Good: Jordache

So, tell me how hot is Heidi Klum for Jordache? The Ad totally sizzles. Brett Ratner, who shot the Ad, is actually an action movie director but who could tell looking at the Ad? He should do more fashion photography! Its brilliant!

But here's what I want to know, how does a Thirty-four year old woman, after having three kids, still manage to have a body like that? Tell me!

Ring it like Adina Reyter

I have been obsessing on this Dior "Oui" ring for a while now. I tried my very best to persuade my friend "Well Heeled" that it was such a cuuutte ring! And, if she had agreed, I probably would have bought it by now! Thankfully, she didn't like it (saving me $675..yup thats what the ring costs!). What's better, I found something similar in style.

I liked the "Oui" ring because it was wiry and had the cute little tiny diamond. This Adina Reyter ring is just as similar and even better because it is much simpler and cute to the core!

Because of the diamond, the price is a little on the steep side for this simple design at $143, but there is another version of the ring without the diamond which is only for $63.

Another really cool piece is this snake coil ring. I love the design because it shows the whole snake form. Something perfect for someone young and flirty!

Its A House, A Gourd, An Egg...Its A Bird House

Buy Via Sprout Home

For those of you with backyards, gardens and green thumbs, you've got to be bored with the same old-same old bird houses by now, quite like the one above, a simple classic design available at Sprout Home for $26.95. However, if you look hard enough, there is always good design to be had, just in the vicinity! Like this gorgeous Turquoise Gourd Bird Apartment, also from Sprout Home for $74. Can you imagine, how much fun and immediate spunk you could be adding to the landscape?

Buy Via Sprout Home

But nothing quite beats the next one. It wins the prize for combining function with impeccable design. Am talking about The Egg Bird House from J Schatz which comes in a myriad of vibrant colors! It is a little pricey at $125, but I can't think of any which way it can get any better...

What's for Lunch?

For the past couple of months, I have been taking breakfast and lunch to work. I normally just put it in a small shopping bag or sometimes I will just reuse a gift bag.

On an average day, the list includes the following..
Breakfast - Either a granola bar or scrambled eggs
Lunch - Stir fry/curry with rice or without (depending on if I am on the South Beach Diet...)
Drinks - Diet Coke/Diet Iced Tea
Snack - Apple or cut fruits or granola bar

All in all, I have a max of three containers and one drink which mostly is either a can or a bottle.

As you can see, my bags aren't too durable and I have been humiliated by my boss for carrying the pink one. In addition, the bags do not close, and on friday, my diet sprite fell out of the bag and burst open on the car floor while I was driving!!

So, now I HAVE to buy a lunch bag and obviously I have a laundry list of what it needs to be like. It has to big enough but not too bulky. It should have some kind of snap or zip closure. And above all, It has to be CUTE! The regular lunch bags are not going to do it for me. (You know the ones with the top cloth handles and the flap cover!) I find them ugly and quite boring!!

Thankfully, I was not disappointed with my search!

Out of the three that I found, the Milano Lunch Tote is my favorite. I love the acrylic handles and bright color option. It has a zip closure and the dimensions are 9.75" x 10.5" x 3.25". However, I am a little concerned if it will hold all sorts of container shapes?! But the separate compartments for bottles and food is swaying my decision making process. It has an outside pocket to put in condiments or napkins and is the cheapest of the lot at only $14.99!

Buy via Wrapables
or
Buy via Target

This Built NY Gourmet Getaway Tote is a little bit more pricey at $24.95, but is stain resistant and machine washable! Its dimensions are 13.5"W x 13.5"H x 6"D. The shape is more round which means I can stack all shapes of containers in it. It doesn't have a separate compartment for carrying a bottle but its still really cute!

Buy via Wrapables

This Built NY Lunch Tote caught my eye, because the bag unzips to become a mat, which I think is cool. It has separate bottle and food compartments. The only flaw with this one is that I don't think there is enough storage on it and plus it might be too wide to carry! The dimensions for it are 12.5" x 12.5" x .5" and the price is $21.95.

Let It Shine...

Every once in a great while, utility comes in a great form that marries function and design beautifully! And Tord Boontje's lamps are such. While some of his designs run upwards of many thousands of dollars, these two lamps that I found on Mossonline are actually under $100. Look at the first one called The Mid-Summer Light in blue. It is so whimsical and flirty without being overtly feminine. And at $80 you know its art within your reach. If it does grab your attention, I suggest you hurry because it is no longer in production and only a limited quantity remains.

Buy Via Mossonline

The second one is the silver-plated Garland Light Suspension Lamp (also available in brass) which oozes artfulness and playful sophistication, that begs to be not taken too seriously! The lamp can be shaped into almost any form since it is made from one continuous metal strand wrapped around a light bulb, and so, this helps your crative side shine too! And available at $90, tell me how else can it get better?
