Fabulous For Less

I love trends just as much as the next fashionista in line for her latte, but lets face it, not all of us are blessed with paychecks that allow us to follow every fad, every season.. so we do what we must, pick and choose, and always, always, have a keen eye on the lookout for the next best buy!

Now, I know not much is needed to unravel that style goddess in you but we all need some help now and then, and if the tenet is, 'Fabulous For Less', you bet am listening! And so should you!

Besides, its not just 'Fabulous For Less', its all under $50 baby!! Got your attention now, didn't I?

First up is a beautiful satin clutch in silver from Steve Madden. Silver is one of those classic colors for evening that you will get maximum use out of, for a very very long time. And it practically goes with everything! Besides, its priced at $48, and you aren't about to hear any complaints!

Next up, the next big trend: cuffs. I've seen many of those, and either they are too boring or too expensive. But not this one, no sirrie. The Laced Up Cuff Bracelet from Rimistyle is just too much fun for words! The form is unexpected, modern, fun and whimsy. All that punch for a mere $22. Bliss huh?

And finally, Devi Kroell for Target is absolutely worship worthy! I love the faux snakeskin tote in dark charcoal gray and at $49.99, thats two trends for fall, packed in one great bag!

Watchu Gonna Do With All That Junk?

A couple years ago, I had a major crisis. I had too many earrings and I could never find anything. There would be many nights, where, I was rushing to get ready and at the final moment would never be able to find the pair of earrings I wanted to wear with my outfit! What would be worse, is that I would find it a day or two later! So I finally got fed up with the situation and decided to come up with a way to organize all my earrings rather than get mad.

So once I decided I had to organize my jewelry, I thought to myself, it can't be that hard. There is definately something out there that will take care of all my "needs". "Needs" meaning plenty of storage for all my earrings, which last time I counted were more than 50 or so. And on top of that, all of these earrings were of different sizes and different types.

Well, as I found out, there was nothing in the market that was just right for me. Most of the storage options were either too small or too generic. Either, they would have two rows each for necklaces, rings and earrings or they would have the same spacing if the storage piece was for earrings specifically.

Finally, I decided to build a solution by myself and am very proud of my invention. All it took was some thick paper that I bought from Michaels and I just pierced holes into the paper with the earrings. I stick this up on my wall with thumb tacks and voila.. I have an elegant solution for my earring clutter and now it's so easy for me to find a pair! It takes care of all my chandelier earrings as well as my small earrings. I use the lower most end for the ones that have a loop style. Simple and cheap, isn't it?

Now, if you prefer to buy something rather than organize yourself, I found some really cute alternatives available online now.

Baby, Please.

Today I got an email from a hapless friend totally devoid of gift ideas, and of course, who comes to her rescue, but me. Now, anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that am a very 'gift-giving' sort of person..I love giving gifts (why lie,it sure doesn't hurt to get back some either!!) and am always looking for fun and exciting gifts. I hate giving or getting stuff that has no apparant thought behind it; totally defies purpose then, don't you think?

So anyway, the aforementioned friend needed gift ideas for a baby shower and for a newly born baby..and these gifts will be great for either occasion..

Tell me who isn't a sucker for baby socks, those tiny, tiny little feet, and with the myriad of colors and prints available, it always makes me so happy just looking at them! And I know many new mothers who'd appreciate beautiful socks for their adorable babies. And that of course leads me to perfect gift number one. Just look at those socks, they come beautifully packaged in an egg carton (hows that for fun?) and the dozen socks come in bright, vibrant colors, that you know you'd love! I especially like the fact that the socks have rubber soles that prevent slipping. Form and function. Love it. And at $36 from Red Envelope it doesn't hurt much either.

And by now, you have to know, there is atleast one lux option to come. Read on.

I believe that you are never too young to start off with cashmere, and hey those little babies need some spoiling. So pamper them with beautiful, pure cashmere, cable knit blankets, and pray why not? The cashmere baby blankets from Red Envelope are lux and would make a great gift, and at $190, you aren't exactly breaking the bank! You can choose between blue and pink and even have the blanket monogrammed. And that makes it a perfect gift idea, number two.

Naughty Naughty!

People keep telling me to review movies but I know I do not have what it takes to do that. However, once in a while, I have an opinion and I voice it (sometimes I voice it a lot if alcohol is involved..hehe.. ). Having said that, I watched "Cash" over the weekend because I was intrigued by how "Cool" it might be. After all, the last movie Anubhav Sinha had produced was "Dus". It was almost a first of its kind in hindi cinema with stylized action and over the top stunts. Now, I am not going to comment on the movie, there are very many different websites that will answer that question, but I did love the song "Naughty Naughty" that plays during the credits at the end of the movie.

The whole song has been shot entirely in one take! Now that in itself is enough to make a song pretty cool but the list doesnt end there. The set design is very eclectic with walls covered in maps, pictures, chinese writings and lots and lots of funky graphics.

Dia with the "puss in boots" style shoes looks pretty fabulous but not as "out there" like Esha and Shamita. Esha and Shamita are both way over the top, but somehow it works for Shamita but not quite for Esha.

Esha has these exxxxtra long pony tails which quirky as they are, somehow don't really do her justice. On the other hand, Shamita Shetty's puffed hair and high waist pants are just too hilarious! The men in the video in contrast, do not provide much of a shock value in terms of clothes but they do ooze a lot of style. Ritesh is climbing the charts of hot film stars with his subtle, restrained sex appeal.

Combine all of the above with the famous latak jhatak Indian moves and lo and behold, you have an awesome video!

Watch the song...

P.S Did you know the last song that was picturised in one take was "Roop Tera Mastana" ?

Exotica!

The word is Exotic and the world of Exotic bags is all up and about just being alive and kicking! We are talking Python, Alligator, Lizard, Anaconda.. you name it, imagine it, and if backed by serious purse strings, you can have it!

The bags in these Exotics are upwards of many thousands of dollars and without getting into the debate of, if it is right or wrong, ethical or not..some of these bags are gorgeous in all of their being. Feast your eyes on some of my picks..

Here is the Nancy Gonzalez Crocodile Satchel. Beautiful isn't it? You have to feel it to know it baby!! Buy for a mere (ahem) $3500.00 via Saks.

And here is the Bottega Veneta Limited Edition Python Hobo available at Saks for $4960.00. I know, I know its a bit heavy on the wallet but one can't help admiring it..

And tell me how wonderful is this Bottega Veneta Anaconda bag.. Luscious is the word that comes to mind..but way over what I can even dream to afford at $4540.00..but that shouldn't stop us from dreaming right? Read more via The Bag Snob.
(psst... Payal and I call them the Bottega Dreams! Ha!)

I love the texture of Python leather, its soft and buttery but still flaky..it is not perfect, and the leather has a bit of textured-grainy feel! You can constantly run your fingers on the leather, up and down the bag, absolutely loving the feel of it, without ever getting tired of it! Of course, I then started looking for an Exotic that can even be remotely afforded and I found this beautiful Gucci Black Python Princy Large Top Handle Tote at $1950.00. Still a hefty price but compared to whats in the market currently, this is practically a steal! And remember these prices are only going to keep going up, up and up, so this is a good investment methinks!Buy via Bergdorf Goodman. Take a look!

So..how Exotic are you?

The hunt for ...

Mary Janes! The shoe that became a legend with just one appearance on Sex and the City. "I thought these were an urban shoe myth!" shrieked Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) in "A 'Vogue' Idea" on Sex and the City. I am sure, like me, a lot of women must have rushed out to acquire a pair of their own. Unfortunately, reality kicked in when I found out that these exquisite shoes sell for $555 retail. This time it was my turn to shriek and do a double take.."Excuse me.. They cost how much! cough cough", and right there and then my dream ended. I resolved myself to a fate of buying only shoes that were $100 or less and life went on.

Now I had forgotten all about these until a few nights ago when I caught a rerun of the same SATC episode on TV. This time I decided to search for alternatives and started hunting online for a cheaper version that had all the trademarks of the original but that wouldn't break the bank.

After surfing for what seemed like hours and hours, I finally found it! And at $109.95, my find is a major major steal!

Check it out.. Can you even make out the difference?? These Steve Madden Vyxens are so close to the original. Patent with pencil heels and even pointed toes. Sweeeet! There is a god and he really really loves me!

Steve Madden Vyxen for $109.95

I also found these other Mary Jane styles but they do not even come close to the Steve Madden.

Aldo Duncana for $80.00

Nine West Lehana for $79.00

This aint close but I am liking the block heels.

J Crew Leather Mary Janes for $198
