Alexander McQueen Fall 08

Alexander McQueen after a trip to India, drew inspiration from the many images of Queen Victoria, the Duke of Wellington, the then Indian Empire and forties/fifties British couture as worn by Elizabeth II and translated it all beautifully into his collection for Fall 2008 ready-to-wear.

There were exquisite dresses, play on saris, severely cut military tailcoats, brocade suits, crisp high-necked shirts, period inspired shoes and millions of dollars' worth of antique Indian jewelry!

A brilliant, brilliant show in all.

love the stuff, especially the peacock motif on the dress, and of course the jewellery.

I checked them out last month, and some head jewelleries and hair styles reminded me of "Mukut" that Indian kings and Nepal king wore.

The outfits look good but jewelery is such "run off the mill" desi trash - the ones you get in Carol bagh. eek!

AHHHHHH.... I wonder if it was as good for McQueen as it was for me *lights a cigarette and pulls sheet around her*.

That was excellent. Very original despite being inspired by an idea, Great colors, and fantastic editing. Loved it all, except the jewellery which was desi blah!

woww....aboslutely loved the last two outfits...they are well patterned and very modern cindrella ish..the jewelry and shoes aren't all that, but thats also cause we all have been over exposed to indian jewelry and this isnt really an inspiration as much as an imitation..nevertheless, with clothes like those..you have to ignore somethings

Priyanka,Payal,
Thank you, you guys for connecting us so brilliantly with fashion abroad. Us poor mortals would otherwise be stuck here with the blahs and the blahs!
