The Leiber "Ganesha": Love It Or Hate It?

To mark its entry into India, Leiber launched a limited edition "Ganesha' minaudiere complete with 12000 Swarovski crystals and priced at over $6000! Can't wait to see who will be the first to carry one!

What do you think of the clutch?

I admit it is gaudy, but it is gaudily fashionable. Representations of Ganesha at their most creative, are during Ganesh Chaturthi - where the loudness of their colours is celebrated. This clutch keeps in line with the same tradition. Love it!

I actually quite like this Leiber even though I am not a big fan of Leiber. Maybe I am falling for the growing trend to market to the desis - like the Lladro ganeshs and the bharatnatyam dancers. (BTW, not a big fan of Lladro but this ganesh is kind of kitschy cute.

I hate Leiber in general. I wouldn't carry one even if it was given to me for free. That being said, Ganesha is so cute he elevates even ugly Leibers. I'd probably keep the clutch on my mantel :-)
