A Grecian Ode

There were a lot of Grecian influences on the runways this season (in Spring/Summer 2008 collections) and the 'Toga' was most apparant. Why, the fashion doyenne herself, Priya Tanna, editor of Vogue India, was seen flaunting the silhouette in a Tarun Tahiliani created ensemble, few months ago at the Vogue India launch. (picture, above)
A Toga is essentially a loose flowing outer garment, which in the ancient times, was worn by Romans, usually, made of a single piece of cloth that covered the entire body leaving the right arm bare. And, most designers in their collections re-interpreted this flowing silhouette which really is a very flattering drape.
