The IT Fabric: Ikat

The absolute new IT fabric is Ikat, influences of which I saw on Fall 2007 collections, specifically like in those of Armani and Balenciaga, pictures of which you can see below!

The Ikat fabric trend or Ikat-like print trend is going to go strong well into next year and you just have to look at the collections of Bruce Spring and Jenny Kayne for Spring 2008 Ready To Wear, to see what I mean...

Traditional Ikat is not a print. It's a tie-dye technique that is intricate and old ikat textiles have very fine designs. These prints are large and sloppy and don't require half the skills required to do real Ikat. Shocking that the west has made the ugliest of Ikat popular. You will find much better stuff in India or Thailand or Japan.

ikat is definitely original from INDONESIA. japan and any other countries are just trying to steal it and sell it in high prices.
