Kareena and Katrina maybe hogging all the magazine covers, but Shilpa is also making some waves of her own. She is featured in the latest issue of Verve in all-yellow creations by Surily, Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Shantanu and Nikhil.

Isn't the Santanu and Nikhil dress just totally adorable! We have already seen a variation of the same style on Sameera and Celina.

Fresh Off The Runway!

Malaika appeared at the Apriati jewelry showcase in a Surily Goel creation that was just showcased at WLIFW Fall 2008.(See model to the right of Carol.)

Looking at the dress below from Hermes Spring 2008, is it obvious or is it obvious where Surily got her inspiration from?

Am I Seeing Double?

While the Marchesa and the Nalandda Bhandari are absolutely identical, right from the opening at the neckline, the sleeves, the work on the hemline etc, look how similar the Dior and Surily Goel are. Barring the belt on Surily gown, the straps, the detail at the bust, the puffed hemline/ ruching are quite similar...

Spotted one that is identical. Spotted one that is similar. Its quite hard to miss!

Plagiarism, copyright infringement and downright copying have been plaguing the fashion industry for a while now, perhaps because it is so hard to define the rightful intellectual property and there is such a thin line between plagiarism and "inspiration"! There have been way too many incidents, all you need to do is run a google search and you'll see, but then, neither do I see an easy solution to this!

I love these designers but its hard to ignore plagiarism and not feel just a tad let down!!

We hardly expected Surily to be caught in an Ed Hardy t-shirt at the 50 Cent Show. The trend seemed.. so been there.. done with.. After all Surily, you are a designer, you should be setting a trend, not following it.

Day 3: Surily Goel

Surily Goel's collection was dominated by deep reds, whites, creams and pale, pale blues, all accented by mother-of-pearl embellishments!

Some of the prints that she used were really interesting like the one on the deep red dress which was a floral print without being garish! And I thought using mother-of-pearl accents on those cream pleated dresses and pale blue dresses, especially when using them as an accent on the neckline or on the hemline was just a great idea!

The collection could have easily gotten repetitive but it didn't! I quite liked it. The clothes were all very wearable and had the easy balance of the 'bohemian' and the very, updated, clean look of now!
